I made some MMS recently (two batches) and in both cases the MMS stayed a light yellow in colour even after 3 days, should it clear up to look like clear water?? or is the yellow colour normal??

The MMS smells strongly of chlorine.

Please any advice would be appreciated.

When you say MMS I presume you mean 22.4% Sodium Chlorite Solution made from Sodium Chlorite flakes or powder. Many people say MMS when they mean MMS1.

MMS may have a light color (mine is light yellow), but no chlorine odor.

Tell us what ingredients you used and how you made it.

Thanks.

I made the MMS by mixing Sodium Chlorite powder (80% 280g) and 720 ml of distilled water. Stored it in a glass bottle. I followed the instruction correctly. After 3 days the MMS stayed a light yellow colour like urine, it didn't changed to clear water as said it would do and it has a smell of Chlorine to it which i have have read was normal (unless i've been misinformed) but not sure why the colour remained the same for 3 days.

Your formula is correct. The yellow color is probably fine as mine is also yellow and it works to make any SCS.

Try making a 3 drop dose of MMS1 and see if the color changes from yellow to amber when you look through it.

Thanks, it does change to a slightly darker yellow when I activated it with citric acid, and the smell of chlorine does get stronger. It looks like its working.

This is what a 4 drop dose of MMS1 looks like in a small test tube.

It isnt as dark as that in your picture but its definately a darker yellow when activated.

It was only later when I mixed 50 drops of MMS with 50 drops of activator (citric acid), then I got the same colour amber seen in your picture.

That dark amber color is only seen when contained in a small space and you look through it. If it was spread over the bottom of a larger glass container, then the color would be yellow.

If you have CLO2 test strips you can check the CLO2 ppm. It may be more accurate to make some CDH and test that instead of trying to test a 3 drop MMS1 dose. CDH made as shown here should be about 3500 ppm.
